Produced in collaboration with experimental filmmaker and musician Patrick Cain, this light and sound installation was situated in the lightwell of an industrial warehouse and former site of Kitchen Distribution art space. Presented as part of the Sugar City event “Around the Way”
Throughout the space, a generative, multi-channel 360° soundscape orbits the Solfeggio frequencies, an ancient 6-tone scale used in sacred musics, while multiple light sources are programmed to respond to the audio signal; their light diffused through a continuous veil of haze traveling upwards out of the lightwell and into the sky. Solfeggio frequencies were used in the beautiful and well known Gregorian chants, their special tones were believed to impart spiritual blessings when sung in harmony.
